Today, I cleaned the microwave, until it was completely clean from the inside. This was actually the first time I have done that :/

Apparently, the way to do it is to put a dish with water and vinegar in the microwave and nuke it until it's been boiling a bit. Then you can pretty easily swipe most of the disgusting stuff out.

*applauds you*

It blew my mind the first time I heard that trick. SO much better than pure elbow grease.

If you don't want your microwave to smell like vinegar, another good way is to take a half of lemon and nuke it for 2-3 minutes (or until it explodes... ;)) after which all the dirt will come off easily.

I've done this with just water, not water/vinegar, and it works quite well with just water. If that helps!

Me, too -- that's how I take care of the one at work. Before we got an electric kettle, I'd microwave a mug for tea, and use the steam by-product to do the cleaning. Multitasking!

We ususally cover whatever we heat up, so the microwave stays more or less clean. But when something has exploded, this is really a great trick :o)

I know this method and it's really good. Lemon or vinegar all contain acid, that's why they clean so well.
