I've moved around a few times and found the following helpful: - Start packing with the breakable things like glass stuff and kitchen stuff. Packing time will always go up too soon and you'll inevitably hurry with packing the last items, and books or clothes forgive careless packing much more than a crystal vase... - I didn't do a list on my computer, but I put stickers on each box. In big letters I wrote which room the box belonged, and used a different color for each room. And in normal writing I added on the sticker what was in the box, e.g. plates/glasses/pots/pans/etc. so I didn't have to open a box to find something.
And last but not least, make a ToDo list and don't throw it away when you're done. You never know when/if you'll move again and it'll come in handy.
