I've had good luck with Craigslist and furniture (most notably, a desk the size of a small cabin, which turned out not to be moveable to my room because of the hallways, and which was an absolute nightmare to get into the house. I sold it on CL for the same price I paid for it, AND the person picked up the damned thing, which probably weighed a few hundred pounds). But I'm also in the U.S.
