Do you manage with weekly cleaning but keep putting off less frequent tasks? I have a challenge for you: get one room completely clean/tidied up by March 28th. Get your stepladder and dust the top of those cabinets. And isn't it time to wash those curtains? When was the last time you moved your furniture and hoovered behind it? Threw out or donated what you no longer needed?

Come on, just choose a room and do what you always postpone to never later. Feel free to comment to say which room you want to tackle, mention whenever you managed to accomplish something - small or big - so that we can cheer you on, and ask for or share some tips.

(P.S. Thanks, Yvi!)

Yay challenge :)

Do you have to post this right after (two people) cleaning the bath, kitchen, and living room for three hours :) Though there are always things left to do there, so I a m not sure yet whether to pick one of those or the office, which is due to be 'base cleaned' tomorrow and looks like a bomb exploded in there.

I found that getting hair out of the drain works rather easy this way:
Take a thin wooden stick (I use the ones that are meant to skewer meat or veggies and then grill them), hold it into the drain and spin it around. The hair will cling to the wooden surface and wind itself around the stick.
So you'll reach easily hair that's already a bit down the drain and you won't even have to remove the sink strainer :o)

The more hair is in there, the better this works actually...

I've found that laying a washcloth over the drain when I get in the shower lets the water pass through and all the hair collects on top/around the cloth so I never have to clean the drains. This might work on a sink, too.

I will go in on this. I'm picking my bedroom. I have shelves that need to get organized, a few boxes that need to be moved, comics to be put away and more laundry than you can stand to look at!

I'm cleaning my (only) room right now, but 'curtains' is a good topic ... I've only wanted new ones for, oh, has it been three years? At least I've filed away all the stuff that has been landing on my "file me, I'm important" pile for the past two weeks and I'll go and clean the kitchen in a moment, ideally including the fridge, so I guess that counts ;)

The kitchen is clean, as is the rest of the flat (as I said above, I only have one room so it's not that hard), but not the fridge, sadly ... I'll see what I can do :)

Ooh, this is a good one. I live in an apartment with three rooms, basically (you could separate the kitchen, but it's contiguous with the living room). The living room I fairly regularly tidy, and it's huge, but my bedroom is smaller and tends to have not much floor space. So I'll go for the bedroom. I ain't bothering with the windows b/c I'm keeping them weatherized till April, but I'll try to do something about the floor, dust the furniture, vacuum, etc. Daddy's coming first week in April so I'm planning to do that sheets the day he's coming up since he'll be using my bed when he visits.

Hee! I am the worst duster ever, really. I always move out and then dust the top of the doorframes and am like "wow. gross." So this is good :-)

Hmmm...I just redecorated my bedroom but my closet's been a shambles for like 3 years. I've got spring break coming up and I should use it to get this done.

I had a bit of a blitz at the weekend - fridge freezer done, craft area sorted, hall table purged.

But that's pretty much just added to the pile of crap in the spare room... so I pick the spare room, because when people stay in there right now I am ashamed.

Yay challenge done! I spent 6 hours yesterday cleaning every nook and cranny (even the ceiling!) of the bathroom in my soon-to-be flat. It's so shiny now. The other rooms won't be that easy though.

Done and dusted! (Literally). Bedroom is clean. Granted, my clean is not everybody's clean--there are still some odds and ends on one of my desks, for example, though only the necessary ones. My sheets look raggedy because they always do (they're queen sheets on a full bed). But I cleared off surfaces, dusted, folded my "not quite dirty, not quite clean" clothes and put them in one place, cleared off the chair, made the bed, organized my under-the-bed boxes where my clothes live, got the dirty clothes in a trash bag, and vacuumed. I still need to clean my computer screen but other than that, I'm finished.
